UNDER 65 IN NY STATE ?

We have found that an increasing number of NY State residents fall into a category between retirement and Medicare eligibility.

There is also an increasing number of New Yorkers whose spouse will be retiring yet they are not yet 65 or eligible for Medicare.

Unfortunately there are not any easy answers to this problem. Remember the old saying  "if it seems too good to be true it probably is".   Beware of discount plans, fee-schedule plans, and high deductible policies UNLESS that is what you are looking for. Also beware of ANY company who says that you must sign up over the phone or right away. A reputable insurance company will send you information and plan details that you can review.

HERE ARE SOME POSSIBLE OPTIONS

  • Most local HMO or PPO plans in your area are required to offer Individual Health Insurance Policies but they can be VERY costly

  • NY State has a program called Healthy New York which is a basic health insurance policy offered by private insurers designed to help uninsured working individuals obtain health insurance. This plan has eligibility requirements. You can visit the Healthy New York website or call our office to receive more details about this program.

  • We have found one plan in NY State that seems to be a very viable option for many. This plan has very good coverage and the rates are usually at least $200 less than other plans. You can click on the link below for plan details, pricing and enrollment applications.
    1. Please note: This plan Does NOT cover physician "Office Visits"
    2. Review the benefit summary and compare to other available plans to see if this plan is adequate for your situation.
